When all thy mercies, O my God...
"When all Thy mercies, O my God, my rising soul surveys,
Transported with the view, I'm lost in wonder, love and praise.
Unnumbered comforts to my soul Thy tender care bestowed, before my infant heart conceived from whom those comforts flowed."
Transported with the view, I'm lost in wonder, love and praise.
Unnumbered comforts to my soul Thy tender care bestowed, before my infant heart conceived from whom those comforts flowed."
Hymn 51, Trinity Hymnal
Here's an attempt at the numbering of those comforts to my soul. May it increase my joy, as well as yours! Consider joining the Gratitude Community and writing down your blessings as well.
I know this list has no theme, nothing that appears to hold it together. I guess what holds this together is that my Father has bestowed all these gifts in my life...overwhelming! And this is only the tip of the iceberg! More on that next time.

ReplyDeleteyou didn't need a disclaimer, that list rolled off the screen as a beautiful perspective and gift to receive
thank you, and yes , there is something about beach towels, I noted them today too.
What?! John bought you that hot dress? John, you rock. You looked quite lovely, Kit. Yellow's my favorite color and you are one of my favorite people; good combo. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for giving thanks so that we are reminded to do likewise.
God is good; His love endures forever.
I just saw Clementine at a bookstore and was trying to think of who I could buy it for - she looks SO CUTE! :)
ReplyDeleteAre you getting ready for bootcamp?! Just a couple of weeks away! :)
It was your reference to Addison's magnificent hymn "When All Thy Mercies" that caught my eye this morning. Incidentally, if you're not familiar with the entire hymn, I encourage you to check it out on the Cyber Hymnal here...

I found your list of God's mercies interesting too. It reminded me of a project I took on a few years ago. For a whole year I kept a daily journal of things I thanked the Lord for. Each evening, I'd list three things from that particular day for which I was grateful. It was a wonderful experience!
And if you enjoy reading about our hymns and their authors, I invite you to check out my daily blog on the subject, Wordwise Hymns. (And our hymns are certainly another thing for which to praise God!)
