First Snow on the Longest Night

Lovely day of playing in snow and getting out the Christmas decorations.  
Oh, and a broken lamp and two children stepping on glass.  All is well.
One more thing:  why do my children want to buy Christmas gifts for their friends' pets?  I refuse to let them spend money on animals we don't even own.  Too Scroogey?
