Loving the church: {Day 14} By schisms rent asunder

Y'all, it's Friday.  I am spent from the past week, and looking forward to the weekend for a little time to recharge and plan some posts for the coming weeks!  I've been doing some reading to that end in all of my spare time.  Notice how this post is coming in at the very end of the day?  Heh heh...
So for tonight I am going to leave you with the third stanza from the hymn I posted last Sunday, "The Church's One Foundation".  It mentions trouble, heresies, oppression.  Not our favorite topics, but ones that we should touch on as we consider how to love the church. Tomorrow we'll talk about how to give and receive criticism.  And we'll talk about how to leave a church gracefully (should it come to that). We'll also talk about the hope of the church, despite all the troubles and sins of the people within.
And in case you didn't listen to the old hymn set to new music, I'm reposting the video.

3. Though with a scornful wonder
Men see her sore oppressed,
By schisms rent asunder,
By heresies distressed,
Yet saints their watch are keeping;
Their cry goes up, "How long?"
And soon the night of weeping
Shall be the morn of song.
